Saturday 16th April saw EMMAA representatives attend Meltdown Fighting Championships, an EMMAA affiliate show held at Thornbury Leisure Centre, Bristol. The night was an extremely professional and well-run event showcasing some of the UK’s best up and coming MMA talent.
Huge thanks to Paul Sutherland and the promotion for welcoming our EMMAA representatives Leon Roberts and Dana Wotton plus Sam Amidi from our rules and regulations team who was officiating on the night.
It was a pleasure to be involved in the night and to have the opportunity to watch some truly fantastic fights. In front of a sold out venue of MMA fans, there were stand out performances from Ryan Southern and Lukasz Kutko, while Fred Bevan V Mert Tascakar took fight of the night with 3 rounds of non-stop action!
Congratulations to the new Meltdown Welterweight and Lightweight champions. Armands Gruznovs took the Welterweight belt, claiming a solid victory with a TKO via ground and pound in the first round.
Leuan Mackenzie became the Lightweight champion. A dominant performance led to him claiming the belt via a rear-naked choke submission in the first round.
Shout out to the youth stand out fighters Shea Williams and Riley Barton Williams, who put on outstanding performances.
Paul Sutherland said, “A great night of grassroots MMA. You will see a lot of the young talent headlining major shows in the future. UKMMA is stronger than I’ve ever known it up and down the country”.
Meltdown is an active UK promotion and an EMMAA affiliated promotion with shows held regularly throughout the year to give UK fighters the best platform to showcase their skills.
